Make: Magazine (35)
I was responsible for the design and creative direction of Make: Magazine, a project-based quarterly devoted to the DIY movement, from 2006 through 2010, beginning with Volume 08. -
Craft: Magazine (14)
Craft Magazine, in its print form, lasted for 10 issues. I was there for the launch, and carried out the creative direction of each issue after volume 01. It's now published daily as an online magazine, which I redesigned with my team in 2009-2010. -
Make: Books (10)
I helped launch Make: Books, the publishing arm of Maker Media (which also produces Make:, Craft:, their companion websites, and Maker Faire). This is a sampling of the 5 different lines of books we created for the division. -
Old Navy (8)
At Old Navy, I was responsible for overseeing the creative aspects of all print advertising. Working with the marketing and merchandising groups, I directed the photo shoots, created the concepts, art directed the designers, and also designed many pieces. -
Wired Magazine (16)
Beginning in 1995, I was a part of the original Wired design team. In the late 1990s I returned to become Design Director. Here are some examples from that time. -
The Industry Standard (7)
In 1998, during The Boom, I was the founding design director and chief creative officer of The Industry Standard. I developed the brand identity, created the weekly magazine, and helped build the staff. It was a warp speed adventure. -
Design for Books, Galleries, & More (12)
Included in this set are designs for the definitive book about Mötley Crüe, "The Dirt", Dave Navarro's book "Don't Try This at Home", posters for New Langton Arts, a magazine for SFMoMa, posters for SF CameraWork, among others. -
Nickelodeon Magazine (3)
In the mid-1990s, I was part of a team that created a monthly magazine for kids, Nickelodeon Magazine. It was the highest-circulation kids magazine of its time. -
